about Marina

History

Born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, Marina Matriculated from the Deutsche Schule zu Johannesburg before obtaining her Diploma in Ceramic Design from the Technikon of the Witwatersrand.

Early on in her professional career, she established her own company that focused on ceramic design. This branch of her work continues to thrive today and has provided her with one of many creative channels.

For a decade she worked as a freelance Art Director for some of the top-rated photographers in Johannesburg; including art directing and producing magazine and billboard advertisements.

Love of Sculpture

Eventually, her love of sculpture overwhelmed her freelance work and continues to stoke her artistic drive. It was at this time that she opened her school for sculpture students and her own creative aspirations intensified.

Her passion and focus have propelled her to local and international renown. She enjoys guiding students in their newfound love of sculpture as well as collaborating with local and international clients to manifest their visions.

Marina deepened her roots and attachment to her patch of African soil by marrying and raising three children in Johannesburg.

Her love of language is evident in her proficiency in English, Afrikaans and German. She is also able to participate in basic conversational French.

Sculpture as a Career

No project is too big or too small for Marina, be it an international commission for the Fetal Health Research Institute in London or a local monument.

She has been a finalist in numerous sculpture competitions and has attended many international trade fairs.

She is constantly involved in sculpture proposals, tenders, restorations, school memorials, portraits and her teaching. She always gives 100% of her energies to the task at hand, whilst also working on her own fine art range of sculptures.

Marina works figuratively as well as conceptually and every year she takes part in group exhibitions such as Carol Lee Fine Art, Jan Cilliers, The Imibali Gallery In Graaf Reinet and Everard Read Johannesburg.
